You can buy the poster boards from your local craft stores or office supply stores. When you take still life photos, lighting is very important, google photography lighting if you are still interested in this topic. Take a look of my still life gallery, you can see there aren't photos with unwanted and unattractive shadows

Lovely arrangement! Food is truly something that can be enjoyed by all five senses, but often, you have to be the chef (and eat the food) to to get the full experience of 5 senses.
