really? is that your experience with normal garden roses? i wish i could take the credit, the roses are doing all the hard work, i have nothing to do with how beautiful they look...well, other than they live in my garden
Huh... no pesticides or anything? We have a problem with our old rose bushes, they keep getting rose rust; it's a fungus that causes them to become discolored and eventually depletes the health of the cells they surround (for all I know). I'm surprised you don't get stuff like that.
a good gardener is when you have a problem, he/she will do everything to solve that problem. at least that is how i manage i garden. i do not use any pesticides/chemicals for my plants. i know it's hard to believe, but i am not lying, i do not have weeds in my garden, again, i take care of them everyday, so there's no chance for weeds to come up. i do not have spent flowers on my plants either. i know this sounds to ridiculous, but it's the truth.
try use 1 part white vinegar/3 part water, in a spray bottle, spray on your rose fungus, this should help.
